Garment Care

Caring for your clothes is one of the most meaningful things you can do to extend their life. Here are some suggestions to help your Dawson pieces live as long and well as possible.

Washing

Delicate machine wash cycles are always recommended for Dawson garments. Pants and jackets generally don't need washing after every wear, so try spot cleaning first and get as many wears as possible out of them before putting them through a full wash.

Washing does slowly degrade clothing over time as expected, however this can be slowed down with gentle wash cycles using cold water. This gives your garments the best chance of staying fresh for longer and reduces the likelihood of fabric shrinkage and damage.

Drying

Line drying is the best way to ensure your garment’s longevity.

Clothes dryers are not recommended for any Dawson piece. While they will not instantly cause damage, they are a harsher drying method and are best avoided. If line drying is not an option, use a low heat or delicates dryer setting.

Wool

Dry cleaning is the safest option for wool garments, though it is not always convenient or accessible. A cold hand wash or gentle wool cycle with wool detergent will be absolutely fine. Dry heavier wool garments flat across the line to prevent warping.

Wool should never be put through a normal machine cycle or a clothes dryer as shrinkage is very likely.
