Making

Lily Edney of Dawson Studio working on a sewing project at a desk with a vintage sewing machine, a yellow spool of thread, a tape measure, and scissors, in a room with beige walls.

At the heart of Dawson is a zero waste practice, born in Melbourne before continuing through Scotland and Switzerland, where Lily lived and worked, crafting early samples from locally sourced fabric remnants and offcuts. Wherever Lily has called home, the same commitment to considered making has followed.

Production garments are made exclusively using deadstock and vintage materials, with remnants utilised to create smaller accessories and garment labels. Offcuts from the pattern making process are repurposed into paper for care and branding tags, ensuring that as little as possible is lost along the way.
